  • If using fresh strawberries, wash and remove stems. Slice into halves or quarters (depending on size).
  • In a small saucepan, add sliced strawberries and water over medium heat. Using a fork, mash and stir strawberries until they start to break down, about 5 minutes.
  • Then, add chia seeds and all other ingredients to the saucepan. Continue to mash and cook for another ~5 minutes.
  • Remove from heat and let chia seed mixture sit and cool for about 10 minutes. It will start to thicken into a jam-like texture.
  • Transfer chia jam into a glass jar for storage in the refrigerator.

*SERVINGS: This recipe will yield about 1.5-2 cups of jam. Chia jam will continue to thicken once in the fridge. If you find it a bit too watery, however, feel free to add a small amount of extra chia seeds.
*STORAGE: Chia jam will keep in the fridge for about 2 weeks. Alternatively, you can freeze it for about 3 months.
  • spread it over toast with some nut butter
  • stir it into a greek yogurt or oatmeal bowl
  • enjoy it over pancakes, waffles, or french toast!
  • try it with vanilla ice cream, rice pudding, or paired with baked goods!
